SMYRNA EYE GROUP, P.C. - Drs Weiss, Harper & Suji
Professional Eye Exams
Our professional eye doctors will perform a complete eye examination utilizing the most advanced instruments and techniques. They will thoroughly explain any problems and make sure you completely understand your diagnosis and treatment options.
Pre-screening: Our experienced and well-trained staff will conduct the pre-testing. In addition to measuring your eye pressure for glaucoma, most of our patients choose the OPTOMAP EXAM, instead of traditional dilation. This allows us to capture a digital image of the retina thus enabling the doctors to do a more thorough evaluation of your eye health. They will check for cataracts, glaucoma and any systemic diseases such as diabetes or high blood pressure that may affect your eyes. We will also take a thorough case history, allowing us to determine any areas of concern regarding your ocular and general health.
Refraction: The HUMPHRY VISION ANALYZER is a state of the art refractive instrument used to accurately determine your prescription for glasses and/or contact lenses. Our doctors experience with this instrument allows them to provide you with the most thorough and comfortable examination possible.
Eye Health: Your examination includes a complete evaluation of the internal and external health of your eyes using a biomicroscope and an ophthalmoscope. Additional testing of your eye muscle motor skills and peripheral vision will be conducted.
Consultation: At the conclusion of your examination, our doctors will provide an explanation of your visual condition and your eye health. They will present you with all of your options and allow you to make the informed choice that is best for you. In addition, they will advise you of any general health issues that may require additional attention.
The doctor will advise you of the best time frame for your next exam. They generally recommend the following:
Children(under 6 years): At age 3 and before entering kindergarten.
Children(6 to 22 years): Every year.
Adults with a prescription: Every year.
Adults without a prescription: Every other year.
If you have a specific visual condition or general health concern, such as diabetes, you may be advised to seek more regular care. Our doctors will evaluate your individual case.
At the conclusion of your examination, our trained staff will assist you with your glasses selection and/or contact lenses. They will present you with all of your options and, again, allow you to make the informed choice that is best for you.
